The Mexican Americans Prevalence and Services Survey
(MAPSS) has been a four-year, large-scale, multi-collaborative
research project funded by the National Institute of Mental Health.
Dr. Sergio Aguilar-Gaxiola is the on-site principal investigator
and project director for the nearly $2.5 million study. Christine
Alejo-Garcia, shown right, a senior psychology major at Fresno
State, is Aguilar-Gaxiola's research assistant on the project,
which is the largest epidemiologic mental health study ever conducted
with Mexican Americans in the United States.
