 Jeri Echeverria named Provost/Academic VP
President John D. Welty has named interim Provost Jeronima (Jeri) Echeverria as the new Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs.

“Dr. Echeverria has done an excellent job as interim provost and Fresno State is fortunate to have her aboard now in a permanent role,” said Welty. “Her knowledge of the campus and experience as a faculty member, department chair, associate dean and associate provost will benefit our entire campus as we face the challenges ahead.” 

Echeverria, who served as interim provost since July 2003, was selected from a field of more than 50 candidates from throughout the country.  more

Commencement is May 22
The 93rd Commencement will be held on Saturday, May 22, at its new home, the Save Mart Center at Fresno State. more

Declare Yourself
Declare Yourself, a national nonpartisan, nonprofit young voter empowerment campaign, visited Fresno State in February to energize students to register and to vote in the 2004 election. more

Bee corrects errors
Recently, President Welty informed the campus community that he was troubled by The Fresno Bee's interpretation of the California State University audit of auxiliary organizations, which led to a story containing several errors in the Feb. 15 edition.  On Feb. 22, the Bee issued a correction, which appeared in the Setting it Straight column at the bottom of Page A28. more

Budget summit
On Feb. 12, President Welty convened a Budget Summit to discuss how the university might go about dealing with the potential reductions in our funding. more

CSU board at Fresno State
The California State University Board of Trustees will hold its March meeting at the Save Mart Center at Fresno State on March 16 and 17. The board travels to one campus each year for a meeting. more
